The short answer
A verified profile with the right primary category, every additional category you genuinely offer, services listed under each category with a written description for each one, accurate hours and contact details, real photos and a steady flow of reviews. It is the most valuable free thing a local business can do, and many of the businesses I work with had not set one up at all.
Why it matters more than most owners think
When someone searches for a service near them, the businesses at the top of the map with the most stars get the first calls. A good number of the owners I work with had no profile at all, or one they never finished. They did not realize how much of showing up on Google depends on it.
What a complete setup involves
Setting a profile up properly can be long and tedious, which is why so many are left half done. For each client I work through:
- Verifying the business with Google
- A primary category that matches the main service
- Additional categories for every other service actually offered
- Services listed under each category
- A written description for every service
- Hours, service area, phone, website and booking link
- Photos of real jobs, the team and the work trucks
Keep it active
A profile is not a one-time job. New photos, updates, answered questions and a steady flow of reviews show Google the business is active. We connect review requests to the CRM, so every finished job can ask for a review without you having to remember.
The profile also has to match your website and every other listing exactly. The same business name, address and phone number everywhere is one of the signals search engines and AI assistants use to trust that you are who you say you are.
